Title: Romani, contemporary dwelling
Location: Little Aston, Birmingham
Sector: Residential
MADE Architecture were given the opportunity to design a bespoke, modern, contemporary house to replace the existing bungalow in the private estate of Little Aston, Birmingham. The aim of the project was to create a unique design of high quality Architecture to give Romani a new identity and character to suit the area. The site is surrounded by tall trees allowing the bespoke house to remain private and blend in with the landscaping.
The design varies in heights and massing to remain sympathetic to its neighbours and surroundings whilst also creating dynamic elevations. The modern house accommodates five luxury bedrooms, a large kitchen and dining area, a double height sunken lounge, additional lounge areas, a cinema room, study area and a garage. The layout of the property was informed by the site orientation, tree formation and sun path to create better and brighter indoor/outdoor spaces.
Lichfield District Council Planning were very receptive towards the proposed contemporary house and found the bespoke design suitable for Little Aston; which allowed planning permission to be obtained smoothly.
